Local models Prue Liddy, Hannah Meek, Judi Oakes, Emma Gowans and Brigette Mulcahy showcased vintage gowns from the McFarlane Dress Collection during the popular Fashion Through the Ages parade in Skipton. The exhibition attracted about 500 visitors, with people travelling from across Victoria to enjoy the showcase of fashion, history and craftsmanship.

NOMINATE A LOCAL CHAMPION

Do you know someone who goes above and beyond for our community? Nominations are now open for the 2027 Corangamite Shire Australia Day Community Awards. Residents can nominate outstanding individuals and events for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year. Nominations close at 5 pm on Monday 26 October, so now is the time to recognise local champions.

GET WEEDING BEFORE FIRE SEASON

It's time to tidy up around the yard before the Fire Danger Period begins. Corangamite Shire residents can dispose of green waste free of charge at local transfer stations and Naroghid Landfill from 12 to 25 October. Plus, weekly green organics bin collections will continue until 1 January to help reduce fire fuel around homes and keep properties tidy.

SEPTEMBER COUNCIL MEETING RUNDOWN

Corangamite Shire’s free Waste Wise Event Trailer can help make clean-up easier while reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. The trailer holds up to 12 bins and includes bin covers and flags, helping organisers create cleaner, more sustainable events. Event organisers only pay standard waste disposal fees.

The free Corangamite Shire Community Expo on Tuesday 6 October will bring together local support services, community groups and health organisations under one roof. FIREWORKS COMING TO LISMORE

This Saturday 3 October is Light Up the Night at the Lismore Recreation Reserve. This free community celebration will feature live music, a barbecue, kids' activities and family-friendly entertainment before finishing with a spectacular fireworks display.

H5N1 bird flu is impacting wild bird populations in Victoria, and the general public should stay informed. A poultry housing requirement for flocks of 50 or more birds is in place in southern areas of Victoria including Corangamite Shire. Do not touch sick or dead birds or wildlife.
