BUSINESS NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Corangamite Business Awards.
This year anyone can nominate a local business, as well as self-nominations, with six refreshed categories including the expanded Growers, Producers and Agribusiness and the new Trade Business of the Year.
Nominations close 16 March.

FOLK SINGERS SET TO SHINE IN COBDEN

Irish/Canadian folk powerhouse musician Irish Mythen and Australian troubadour Kaurna Cronin will perform at Cobden’s Alderwood Manor this Thursday 5 March as part of the Festival of Small Halls. Supported by Council, the show offers locals a rare chance to experience acclaimed international artists up close in an intimate setting.

INDUSTRY LEADER JOINS IWD EVENT

Corangamite Shire will host Alison Watkins AM as keynote speaker for this year’s International Women’s Day Morning Tea. The free event will offer community members the chance to hear insights from one of Australia’s most respected business leaders, whose career spans major ASX‑listed companies and local farming. The event is this Wednesday 4 March at the Killara Centre.

ARTSCAPE DIRECTORY GOES LIVE

Corangamite Shire has launched an online Arts and Entertainment Directory to help local artists and performers find paid work. Artscape Corangamite features musicians, visual artists, performers and makers across the Shire, making it easier for organisers to book local talent for events and projects.

TALENTED YOUTH TO PERFORM

Young performers will take centre stage at the Amplify Youth Stage during Timboon’s TRACKS festival on Saturday 14 March. Enjoy a free afternoon of live music from Ember Haze, Jada Mahony, Elyssa & Finn and Lisztomania at the Timboon Amphitheatre from 12 pm to 1.30 pm.

SURVEY FOR PARKING STRATEGY

Council is developing a parking strategy to make the best use of existing parking in Port Campbell. We’re seeking feedback from residents, businesses and visitors to ensure the plan supports local needs and improves the visitor experience. FEBRUARY MEETING RUNDOWN

Council reviewed key governance, planning and community matters at its February meeting. Decisions included updates to the Flying of Flags Policy and delegations, adoption of the Youth Strategy 2026-2030, quarterly progress reports, budget adjustments, and approval of Business Assistance Scheme grants supporting four local businesses.

WIND FARM CONCERNS DISCUSSED

Corangamite and Moyne Shire leaders have met Planning Minister Sonya Kilkenny to raise concerns about inadequate consultation about proposed Renewable Energy Zones, and wind farm proposals outside zone. They called for better planning, respectful timelines during recovery, and stronger community benefits in approvals.

Council’s Positive Ageing, Access & Inclusion team is offering activities to help residents stay active and connected.
The Explore & Talk walking series visits Skipton, Cobden, Timboon and Noorat in coming months, while free monthly movie mornings rotate across towns.
There’s also gentle exercise and strength training sessions.
