What happened at the February 2026 Council Meeting
At its February meeting, Council:
- received the Audit and Risk Committee annual self-assessment for 2025;
- reappoint Ms Phillippa Dees as an independent member of Council’s Audit and Risk Committee for a further three years;
- noted the appointment of Lisa Young as Chairperson of the Corangamite Shire Audit and Risk Committee;
- refused a Planning Permit for a two-lot subdivision on Timboon-Colac Road, Jancourt East;
- received the second Quarterly Council Plan Initiatives Progress Report for 2025-2026;
- nominated Mayor, Cr Kate Makin, Cr Nick Cole, Cr Geraldine Conheady and Cr Ruth Gstrein to attend the 2026 Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly in Canberra;
- adopted the updated

- S6 Instrument of Delegation
- noted the conclusion and final evaluation of the

- 2021-2025 Municipal Public Health & Wellbeing Plan; and
- 2021 – 2025 Disability Access & Inclusion Plan.
- received the finance report for the period ending 31 December 2025 and approve changes to the 2025-2026 budget of $1,365,316 unfavourable;
- approved Business Assistance Scheme grants for

- Under The Elms Bookshop ($1,771.48 and fee waiver of $226.50 excluding GST) for new business identification signage;
- Progressing Cobden Inc. trading as Cobden Visitor Information Centre ($2,783.50 and fee waiver of $226.50 excluding GST) for new business identification signage, cleaning and painting;
- Jaffle Kitchen by MiJourney Support Services ($2,130 and fee waiver of $226.50 excluding GST) for new business identification signage; and
- Leehane’s Country Meats ($1,335 and fee waiver of $226.50 excluding GST) for new business identification signage and window decals;
- adopted the Youth Strategy 2026-2030 and note the 2026 Implementation Plan;
- noted the quarterly status project update report to 31 December 2025.
