What happened at the June 2026 Council Meeting
At its June meeting, Council:

Noted its extreme disappointment that the Minister for Planning had issued a planning permit for the Mumblin Wind Farm, and reconfirmed Council’s key objections to the permit.

Voted to commission a legal review of the Minister for Planning’s decision on the Mumblin Wind Farm, in particular the aviation impact assessment.

Voted to issue a Notice of Decision to Grant a Permit for 43 Main Street, Timboon, to remove an easement or restriction (drainage and right of carriageway), subject to conditions.

Flagged further work to look at options to provide rear access to properties in Main Street, Timboon.

Adopted the Year 2 Council Plan Initiatives 2026-2027.

Noted the findings of the 2026 Community Satisfaction Survey and approved the publication of the results on the Corangamite Shire website.

Endorsed the Corangamite Gender Equality Action Plan 2026-2030.

Adopted the Use of Common Seal Policy, effective from 28 July 2026.

Endorsed the following projects as Council’s priority infrastructure advocacy initiatives for the 2026 Victorian State Election: Skipton Community and Recreation Hub – Stage 1 ($2.6M); Camperdown Production Precinct – Stage 1 and 2 ($2.78M); Port Campbell to Princetown Trail Planning ($750K).

Endorsed in principle listing planning and energy policy reform as a priority for the election.

Noted a petition objecting to a promotional sign at Camperdown-Lismore Road, Lismore.

Endorsed Cr Laurie Hickey’s attendance at the National Local Roads, Transport & Infrastructure Congress 2026 and authorised expenditure in accordance with the Councillor Professional Development Policy and Council Expenses Policy.

Adopted the 2026-2027 Budget as presented.

Adopted the determinations on the rates and charges and other matters for the 2026-2027 financial year.

Revoked the Community Group Loan Guarantee Policy dated March 2023, and

Authorised the Chief Executive Officer, or delegate, to negotiate the terms of a potential lease agreement with Sunnyside House regarding the potential lease of a portion of Jaycee Park, Camperdown, for the purpose of infrastructure associated with the proposed expansion of Sunnyside House.

Notes that the proposed lease terms to be negotiated will include, but not be limited to:
a) the lease area and permitted use;
b) lease term and any option periods;
c) lease rental amount;
d) maintenance and asset responsibilities;
e) development, landscaping and environmental requirements;
f) community access and public safety considerations; and
g) any other matters required under Council's Property Leasing Policy.
- Required officers to report back to Council with the negotiated lease terms for consideration and final determination prior to the execution of any lease agreement.
