Lismore Water Tower

This project is open to all artists within Australia, through an ‘Expression of Interest’ process.

Following the initial Expression of Interest, submissions will be assessed by a specially convened Community Reference Group. Three artists will be short-listed and offered an opportunity to develop and propose a concept.

The Lismore community have identified some themes that could be the basis for public art. The artist may use this list for research, but is not limited by it.

Concepts could reference or consider:

  • History
  • Sheep, Shearing & Woolsheds
  • Something new and unique to Lismore
  • Native animals and birds (Inc. Brolgas)
  • Volcanic Plains
  • Bluestone buildings
  • Native vegetation

Other aspects to consider:

  • That the artwork is a prominent feature of the town
  • 1850s onwards

The outcome should be timeless, contemporary, and permanent and provide an appropriate legacy for the community. The successful artist should avoid literal or historical clichés.

Expressions of Interest close at 5 pm, Thursday 15 August 2019.
