Corangamite Shire Council values community participation and recognises community involvement in decision making is fundamental to good governance and community wellbeing.
The Local Government Act 2020 stipulates that Victorian Local Governments must maintain a Community Vision that covers a period of at least 10 years. This plan needs to be developed through deliberative engagement practices and reviewed following each Council election.
Council previously developed 12 Community Plans based on community values, aspirations, and priorities: Camperdown, Cobden, Darlington, Derrinallum, Lismore, Noorat, Port Campbell, Princetown, Simpson, Skipton, Terang, and Timboon. These were developed between 2011 and 2014, and each was reviewed between 2014 and 2019.
Council has now moved away from individual town Community Plans to new forms of community planning including Structure Plans, which are informed by community input as well as the Community Vision. Council is committed to offering opportunities for the community to contribute, ensuring effective community representation, and ensuring effective community engagement. All our planning is informed by your aspirations and priorities.
