Terang Gas Network Closure

Gas network operator Solstice, in partnership with the Victorian Government, will permanently decommission the compressed natural gas (CNG) network in Terang after 3 August 2026.

Customers will need to switch to electric of bottled LPG systems for heating, hot water and cooking.

There are two ways that customers can make the switch. They can choose between:

• Solstice-supported conversion – Solstice works with the customer and their chosen gas fitter to ensure a seamless conversion and cover the full cost to convert their existing gas appliances to LPG (including parts, labour and certification). This conversion will happen during the Conversion Period for Terang.

• Self-Managed conversion – The customer can arrange their own gas appliance conversion to LPG or replace the gas appliances with new electric appliances. They receive an upfront payment that is the same for either LPG or electric conversion. The Victorian Government is also supporting Solstice customers wanting to electrify, with more information at: www.energy.vic.gov.au/solsticesupport.The customer can undertake their conversion at any time before the Conversion Period ends.
