Simpson Tigers Mental Health Awareness Day
This year marks 10 years since we lost our much-loved James "Goose" Guy. A devoted farmer, loving husband to Mary, proud father of Rhiannon, Courtney and Shaun and a true larrikin who brought laughter and kindness wherever he went.
This event hosted by the Simpson FNC and proudly supported by Corangamite Shire and the National Centre for Farmer Health, is not only to remember Goose, but to honour everyone affected by suicide and to remind each other that no one should have to face life's struggles alone.
In Australia, around 9 people die by suicide every day, with three out of every four being men. People living in regional and rural communities face an even greater risk due to factors such as isolation, financial pressures and limited access to support.
By coming together as a community, starting conversations and checking in on one another, we can help break the stigma around mental health. It's ok not to be ok, and it's ok to ask for help.
Come along from 11:30am and bring the whole family, your friends and your neighbours for a fantastic day of community, connection and fun. Enjoy a free lunch, jumping castle, mechanical bull rides and plenty of activities for the kids.
Be inspired by special guest speaker Warren Davies "The Unbreakable Farmer", who will share his powerful story of resilience and hope.
Then stay on into the evening and enjoy live music from Tristan J Ross as we come together to remember Goose, support one another, and show that it's ok not to be ok
