“LOVE RETURNS TO THE GARDENS” with OZACT’s Shakespeare at Camperdown Botanic Gardens.

OZACT presents ROMEO & JULIET, Shakespeare’s greatest tale of love. Two star-crossed lovers, ROMEO & JULIET, chart their own course for the future at a time where hatred and self-interest are tearing the world apart. In a city of secrets, ROMEO & JULIET meet, and a brief love, cut short by death, is born. Shunning the hate of warring factions, in defiance of their families and in secrecy from their closest friends, the young couple risk all they have to be together, and pay a terrible price for their folly.

“After a really tough two years, it is time to get out and have some fun. With COVID safety a priority, we are really excited to see all our audiences returning to enjoy outdoor Shakespeare once again. It’s a great opportunity to reconnect with loved ones and start enjoying some of the things that we love.” says Artistic Director Bruce Widdop.

The idyllic setting of the Camperdown Botanic Gardens with its formal gardens, majestic trees and colourful floral borders provides the perfect location for Shakespeare’s powerful love story.

The production is directed by Bruce Widdop and Matt Young with Lisa Widdop as Tour Manager. The cast includes OZACT company members Bruce Widdop, Matt Young, Sorcha Breen, Ryan Ireland, Eleanor Ruth, Luke Ingram, Alexis Longley, Michael Davidson and Daniel Pitts.

OZACT’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic is high-spirited, packed with excitement and comedy, romance and raw emotion, and promises an event to remember!

Dust off the folding chairs and join us for some Shakespeare in the Great Outdoors this season.
