Australia Day 2026

On 26 January each year, we publicly recognise the exceptional contributions, hard work and determination of people who make a positive difference within Corangamite Shire.

The 2026 ceremony will be at Camperdown's Theatre Royal on Monday 26 January 2026, from 10am, honouring the Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year.

Our Australia Day event will celebrate the achievements of more than 20 residents and groups.

Our Keynote Speaker is Tony Murphy, a respected emergency services leader and former Deputy Commissioner at Emergency Management Victoria.

He played a key role during the St Patrick’s Fires in 2018 and has been recognised nationally with the Australian Fire Service Medal.

Tony will speak about his emergency management experience and the importance of community resilience.

There will also be a citizenship ceremony to welcome new Australians, vocal performances by Demby McKenzie and an address from Leeanne Whitehead, our 2025 Citizen of the Year.

The formal event will conclude at 12 noon for a free community barbecue with the Camperdown Lions Club.
