Tablet lessons to build confidence and digital inclusion
Published on 22 June 2026
Corangamite Shire residents aged 55 and over, and people living with a disability, are invited to build their confidence using tablets through a supportive and accessible learning program.
Whether it’s staying connected with family and friends through video calls, accessing online services such as banking or Medicare, or enjoying movies and other digital content, this program aims to help participants develop practical skills for everyday life.
Corangamite Shire Council’s Positive Ageing, Access and Inclusion team will deliver free, hands-on sessions designed to be welcoming, flexible and easy to follow for people of all abilities and experience levels.
Coordinator Belinda Rowbottom said the program focuses on creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can learn at their own pace.
“Our sessions are designed to be friendly, relaxed and accessible, so participants feel comfortable and supported,” Ms Rowbottom said.
“We provide small group settings with one-on-one assistance, so people can learn in a way that suits their needs and confidence level.”
Participants are welcome to bring their own tablet or use one of the devices provided.
Council secured a $3,000 grant from Good Things Australia to deliver the program, which includes new tablets to support people who may not have access to technology or who are just starting out.
The program uses free online learning through the Australian Government’s Be Connected initiative, covering tablet basics, useful apps, email, and online safety.
Bookings are essential and places are limited.
