The Corangamite Shire community has a new way to have a two-way conversation with Council.
Conversations Corangamite is an interactive, easy to use platform that is packed with features to support better feedback and communication.
Mayor Kate Makin said after the 2025 Community Satisfaction Survey found residents wanted better communication, the portal would allow them to leave ideas, give feedback, sign up for updates and more.
“This platform isn’t just for community consultations – it’s also a way to keep our residents informed about ongoing projects and works,” Cr Makin said.
“After getting a great response to our Join the Conversation campaign when developing the Council Plan, we’ve kept the same familiar name Conversations Corangamite.
“We want it to be a comfortable place that people can make a habit of visiting.”
Council Communications Coordinator Sarah Johnson said as well as specific project pages, the portal had an area where conversations could go both ways.
“The Corangamite Commons page has a space called the Ideas Garden where you can leave your ideas to help grow a fruitful community.
“The Conversation Patch is a forum for respectful conversations with other community members, and the Pin Playground is an interactive map where you can leave your ideas for specific places.
“You don’t have to register to join in, but signing up means you’ll get updates and notifications. Your privacy is protected and you can comment anonymously if you like, although offensive comments will be screened out to keep it a safe and comfortable space for constructive conversation.
“The site has purpose-built reporting and analytics which will help Council staff understand community sentiment in real time. It also has improved accessibility compliance to make sure everyone can have their say.”
