Corangamite Shire businesses and residents can access free Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training as part of efforts to support local workforce needs and strengthen the hospitality sector.

Corangamite Shire Council is offering the one-day course in Camperdown on Thursday 27 August.

Acting manager Economy and Prosperity Bec Reedman said: “Whether you're looking to update your qualifications, start a career in hospitality, or build your knowledge of responsible alcohol service, this course provides a practical and accessible pathway.”

“It could be a stepping stone to a career in hospitality and it's also valuable for volunteers and community members involved with local sporting clubs and other organisations where alcohol is served.

“Participants will receive an approved RSA certificate, a qualification commonly required for employment in hospitality and for volunteering with organisations that serve alcohol.”

The certificate is accredited by Liquor Control Victoria.

Attendees will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) which can easily be created at usi.gov.au if you don’t already have one.

Workbooks will be provided to participants. Tea and coffee, light catering will be provided.

Ms Reedman encouraged interested people to register as soon as possible, because places are limited.

“We’ve run similar sessions before and demand was very strong, so I encourage anyone interested to secure their place by registering early.”

When: Thursday 27 August, 9 am−4 pm

Where: Killara Centre, 210-212 Manifold Street, Camperdown
