Corangamite Shire is inviting senior residents to a free, informative session on safe online banking at the Killara Centre in Camperdown.

Join us on Wednesday 18 June at 10 am for “Banking Safely Online”, a practical workshop presented by a representative from the Cobden & District Community Bank. The session will cover how to:

  • Spot and avoid online scams
  • Protect personal and financial information
  • Use online banking tools with confidence

Coordinator Positive Ageing & Inclusion Belinda Rowbottom said this session is timely and important.

“Scams are becoming more sophisticated and harder to detect,” Mrs Rowbottom said.

“In 2024 alone, seniors in Victoria lost over $27 million to scams. This session will empower our older residents with the knowledge and tools to bank safely online.”

Service Navigation Support Officer Lesa Best encouraged seniors to take advantage of the opportunity.

“Learning to use online banking can increase your independence,” Ms Best said.

“With fewer physical branches, it’s important to know how to manage your finances digitally. Come along, ask questions, and get expert advice in a friendly, supportive environment.”
