Corangamite Youth Showcase to turn spotlight on emerging talent

The best of Corangamite Shire’s young artists, musicians and performers will be in the spotlight at the Theatre Royal this Sunday.

Mayor Kate Makin invited everyone in the community to come along and support the emerging talents and leaders of tomorrow at the Corangamite Youth Showcase.

“We have so many amazing young people in our community,” Cr Makin said.

“The Corangamite Youth Showcase is a celebration of visual art, live music and stage performances by emerging local artists, musicians, dancers and performers.

“It is an opportunity for people aged 12 to 25 from across the Shire to share their talents and connect with their community.

“Council’s Youth Team has worked with young people to give them the recognition they deserve for their efforts in gaining skills in their chosen area.

“So come along and congratulate our young people on their creativity.

“By supporting them at this early stage of their careers we can encourage them on their way to success.”

Acting Manager Economy and Prosperity Sam Fox said there was still time for young artists to contribute work to exhibit at the event.

“We want to feature as many young artists as possible,” Ms Fox said.

“If you're aged 12 to 25 and have artwork you'd like to share, now's your chance.

“There’s no theme, which means you can submit work in any medium or genre.

“Show us what you've been creating.”

The event is fully supervised and is drug, alcohol, smoke and vape free.
