A peninsula covered in grass and shrubbery juts out from the top left hand corner, it is surrounded by green and blue water.

Corangamite Shire residents are being called to share their thoughts on a new Environment & Sustainability Strategy.

Council will be hosting several co-design workshops and town drop-in sessions to gather insights from the community.

Corangamite Shire Climate Change and Emissions Reduction Officer Pavit Ramesh said: “A flourishing, healthy environment and more sustainable practices are crucial to the wellbeing of our Shire and underpin our tourism and agriculture sectors.

“We need to work with our community to improve the environment.”

The new Strategy will build on previous efforts and provide a roadmap to deliver environmental and sustainability initiatives across Council operations and support the community efforts.

Mayor Ruth Gstrein encourages all residents to share their thoughts.

“We would like to hear from residents to help Council understand community perspectives on environmental and sustainability issues, including your concerns and priorities,” Cr Gstrein said.

“You can share your thoughts online, or by attending one of the co-design workshops or drop-in sessions.”

The co-design workshop sessions are on Wednesday 31 May at the Killara Centre, Camperdown. The first session is from 1 – 3 pm, and the second session is from 5 – 7 pm.

The team will also be out and about in each town hosting drop-in sessions:

  • Timboon and Lismore on Saturday 20 May
  • Princetown and Simpson on Monday 22 May
  • Camperdown on Tuesday 23 May
  • Skipton, Terang, and Derrinallum on Wednesday 24 May
  • Cobden and Port Campbell on Thursday 25 May

Residents can view the location and times of each drop-in session or complete the online survey here.
