What happened at the April 2025 Council meeting
At its April meeting Council
- received the 2024-2025 Mt Leura and Mt Sugarloaf Management Committee Update;
- appointed Phoebe Hemingway and Noni Wallace as community representatives on the Mt Leura and Mt Sugarloaf Management Committee for a three-year term;
- deferred the report for Planning Permit Application PP2024/103 - 451 Melrose Road, Cooriemungle - Two Lot Subdivision (Excision of Dwelling) to the next Council meeting;
- received the Council Annual Action Plan Progress Report for July 2024 - March 2025
- received the finance report for the period ending 31 March 2025 and approved the adjustments to the 2024-2025 budget of $82k. This adjustment is relating to Sealed Roads Major Maintenance, due to additional work required to fix the defects caused by dry weather conditions;
- Adopted the
- Community Initiated Projects Policy dated April 2025;
- Playground Management Policy dated April 2025;
- Public Halls Management Policy dated April 2025;
- approved a contribution of $50,000 (GST free) from the current budget to the Terang and District Indoor Sports and Recreation Committee to deliver the Basketball Ring System Upgrade Project
- Noted the Viewing Platforms under Norfolk Island Pines petition and resolved
- that construction continues to complete the revised deck balustrades inclusive of a mix of timber and tensioned wire in accordance with Contract 2023017 and funding agreements with the Commonwealth and State Governments
- that Council writes to the lead petitioner, Mr Peter Younis, advising of the outcome
- approved Business Assistance Scheme funding for Cobden Football Netball Inc for the amount of $2,000 excluding GST for members and the community to obtain RSA certification
- Cr Cole congratulated Penny Smith for her competition win in Peru and wished her a Happy Birthday
- Cr Beard noted the various Anzac Day services around the shire and at the Cobden School. She advised to check the Corangamite Facebook page for more details.
- Cr Makin raised awareness of the father/son duo Bentley and Gus, bike riding from Mildura to Camperdown raising money for brain cancer.
