Council had two meetings in June. An ordinary Council meeting on 17 June, and a special Council meeting on 30 June.
What happened at the Council Meeting on Tuesday 17 June
At its June meeting, Council
- deferred considering a Planning Permit application for a two-lot subdivision on Lower Darlington Road, Duverney, to allow investigation of new information;
- acknowledged the 2025 Community Satisfaction Survey results and resolved to publish them on the Corangamite Shire website;
- authorised an updated CEO Instrument of Delegation;
- Awarded

- Contract 2026002 External painting (maintenance) and external cleaning of Council Buildings to Higgins Coatings for $226,224 (exc. GST); and
- Contract 2026004 – Provision of External Plant Hire and Associated Services to a list of tenderers;
- Gave in-principle support to position statements on:
- Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund (ESVF);
- Drought Support;
- Roads funding;
- Climate Action;
- Importance of Agriculture;
- Impact of Timber Plantations;
- Childcare;
- Housing;
- Twelve Apostles Precinct development;
- Gas and transition to net zero; and
- Seismic testing; and
authorized the CEO to make minor alterations;
- authorised the CEO to make submissions on the ‘Draft 2025 Victorian Transmission Plan and Renewable Energy Zones’ and ‘Treatment of Energy Storage Systems as part of the Payment in Lieu of Rates (PILOR) scheme’ to

- Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action’s consultation for the Payment in Lieu of Rates Scheme for Energy Storage Systems; and
- Approved Business Assistance Scheme funding for:

- Cr Cole congratulated Malcolm Saunders, of Skipton on receiving a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for service to the visual and performing arts through administrative roles.
- Received an update from Mayor Kate Makin, in her capacity as Deputy Chair of Rural Councils Victoria, on what RCV is asking of the state government via the Drought Response Task Force.
What happened at the Council Meeting on Monday 30 June
At its special meeting on Monday 30 June, Council
- appointed Mr. Philip Shanahan as an Independent Advisor of the Corangamite Shore Council’s CEO Employment and Remuneration Advisory Employment and Remuneration Advisory Committee until 30 June 2029;
- adopted the

- updated Corangamite Shire Community Vision 2040;
- Council Plan 2025-2029;
- Financial Plan 2025-2035;
- Asset Plan 2025-2035;
- Road Management Plan 2025-2029;
- Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029;
- Budget, rates and charges, and other matters for the 2025-2026 financial year; and
- Procurement and Contract Management Policy dated June 2025.
- Cr Nicholas Cole congratulated Skipton community and Patt Gabb on exhibition of 400 portraits of community members;
- Deputy Mayor Laurie Hickey noted the success of the 2025 Corangamite Business Awards and encouraged businesses to get involved next time; and
- Cr Ruth Gstrein congratulated the Robert Burns Festival committee on a huge success; and
- Council resolved to write to the state government calling for an immediate rethink and a halt to the increase to the landfill levy for the 2025-2026 financial year.
