Give your community a fun night out with mobile cinema
Published on 25 August 2025
If your community group is looking for a fun way to raise funds, entertain the kids, or just have a good night out, Corangamite Shire Council’s mobile cinema could be just the ticket.
Acting Director Sustainable Development Katy McMahon said the program was available to help local groups raise funds and build social connections.
“A movie night is a great opportunity to get the everyone together and can raise funds for your sporting club, charity or any other cause.
“Showing movies in our local venues brings people together, especially in farming communities.
“When times are tough, it can give everyone a reason to get out of the house, unwind, and enjoy a bit of a light-hearted escape.
“It’s not about the film it’s about the connections.
“The movie’s distributor will charge between $190 and $350 for screening rights, which will be payable by the community group.
“Corangamite Film Society volunteers attend indoor or outdoor venues across the Shire and run the movie of your choice on Council’s equipment, so there’s no other cost.
“Give us a call and we can help you choose a movie and secure screening rights on your group’s behalf.”
