What happened at the May 2025 council meeting
At its May meeting, Council:
- appointed Eric Peterson as an independent (external) member of the Audit and Risk Committee until 31 January 2028;
- refused a Planning Permit for a two-lot subdivision (excision of dwelling) on Melrose Road, Cooriemungle;
- approved Planning Permits for:
- a two-lot subdivision (re- subdivision of lots) at Hurleys Road and Cuthberts Road, Skibo; and
- a four lot subdivision at 44 Lawrence Street Camperdown
- adopted the

- Swimming Pool Maintenance Policy dated May 2025;
- Open Data Access Policy dated May 2025; and
- Asset Management Policy dated May 2025;
- Climate Change Action Plan 2025-2029; and
- Lakes Recreation Reserve Master Plan dated May 2025;
- authorised the Chief Executive Officer to make a submission to the Victorian Legislative Council Environment and Planning Committee’s Inquiry into Community Consultation Practices in Victoria;
- delegated authority to the Chief Executive Officer, or delegate, to approve variations to Contract 2025008 awarded to Senversa Pty Ltd for quality assurance, and geotechnical inspection and testing during construction of Cells 16A and 16B at Corangamite Regional Landfill;
- awarded contract 2026001 for the Management of Recreation Facilities 1 July 2025 - 30 June 2027 to Victoria YMCA Community Programming Pty Ltd for $1,581,644 (inc. GST);
- noted

- the completion report for the Port Campbell Town Centre Revitalisation project; and
- the report on Council’s swimming pool operations for the 2024-2025 season; and
- approved Business Assistance Scheme funding for:
- Camperdown & District Community House Inc. ($2,000 (ex GST) for weekly hands-on sessions to activate the community garden and improve functionality and engagement with the community hub; and
- Keayang Maar Vineyard for $2,000 (ex GST) for a pilot series of monthly gatherings featuring volcanic wine, produce and culture, boosting cultural tourism and strengthens community connection; and
- resolved to write to the Commonwealth and Victorian governments to urgently reconsider the definition of natural disaster to include drought event as part of the National Disaster Relief and Recovery Assistance Arrangements … and immediately declare Corangamite and the whole south-west of Victoria in drought.
