Location and transport
 
Situated centrally in South West Victoria, two hours from Melbourne, Corangamite Shire is linked by road and rail.
 
Four major highways - Princes Highway, Hamilton Highway, Glenelg Highway and the Great Ocean Road - connect Corangamite Shire to regional centres including Ballarat, Geelong, Colac, Warrnambool, Hamilton and Portland.
 
The Melbourne to Warrnambool rail line provides both public transport and freight services. Timetables can be found at www.vline.com.au
Coach and local bus services connect towns to the rail services in Camperdown.

Corangamite is one of the most productive dairying regions in Australia. Agriculture is a major driver, employing just under one third of the Shire’s population. There are dairy processing facilities at Camperdown, Cobden and Timboon.

Events, Arts and Culture

We have libraries in Camperdown, Cobden, Derrinallum, Terang and Timboon, as well as a mobile library visiting Skipton and Lismore on a fortnightly rotation. There are arts and cultural opportunities available in many of our communities. Corangamite Shire hosts a range of events and community activities throughout the year.
