  Salary:  $71,153 - $74,319 per annum, pro rata

 

About the position

Corangamite Shire Council is looking for a Plant Operator to assist with the operation, maintenance and upkeep of the Corangamite Regional Landfill (Council’s waste management facility) at Naroghid. This is a 6-month position to support our peak construction season.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Operating and maintaining plant, including compactors, tipper trucks, dozers and excavators, in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Undertaking routine machine checks with regard to safe legal operation, fluid levels and lubrication points.
  • Cleaning the machine inside and out at regular intervals.
  • Maintaining accurate time sheets and work program documentation.
  • Collecting user fees and attending to administrative/record keeping duties.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the Landfill facility.

 

About you

  • Certificates of competency for plant and/or machinery, with experience operating compactors, tipper trucks, dozers and/or excavators highly desirable.
  • Sound working knowledge in the operation, safe use and maintenance of plant and equipment, with the ability to perform manual work in accordance with OH&S guidelines.
  • Victorian Driver Licence, Construction Induction Card (white card) and recent National Police Check, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence endorsement, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement, is highly desirable.
  • Basic experience in administration, including the use of computer systems, is highly desirable.
