Light Up Camperdown is a dazzling festival that fills central Camperdown with lights, projections, lanterns and interactive activities.
The project uses special lighting systems to illuminate the historic Camperdown Clocktower and Courthouse building so their beauty can shine bright, in this vibrant festival that invigorates the town centre. The festival also includes entertainment, food, market stalls and late-night shopping.
It's all possible thanks to the installation of lighting that highlights the buildings year-round. The installation was funded by a grant from the State Government’s Our Regions: Living Local – Regional Fund.
The clock tower can also be lit up in colours to mark various celebrations, commemorations and public awareness campaigns throughout the year. Community organisations can apply to light up the buildings in their colour. Click here for more details.
Community organisations are invited to submit a request for lighting for a particular day of significance.
Lighting of council owned public buildings (e.g. the Clock Tower and Courthouse) will be managed by Council and programmed as a contribution towards the vibrancy and creativity of the region.
Requests relating to the lighting of public buildings can be submitted to Council and will be considered against the following criteria.

-
promotes respect for all
-
is consistent with Council’s values and policies
-

-

Requests that are for an individual’s enhancement, are political or culturally sensitive or may expose Council to adverse criticism will not be supported.
Requests must be submitted by an organisation or registered not-for-profit organisation (individual requests for lighting will not be supported). Requests must be received a minimum of 31 days in advance of the requested light-up date and can be submitted up to twelve months in advance.

Council’s digital projection and creative art boxes have been developed for Council use with content to be owned, curated and managed by Council officers. Consideration may be given for programming which would be managed through an Expression of Interest or similar process.
