Last call for young achiever nominations

Published on 04 September 2018

Time is running out to nominate someone you know for Corangamite Shire Youth Awards.

Nominations close on Friday 14 September.

Councillor representative to the Youth Council, Lesley Brown said young people and groups in the Shire were making some great contributions to the local community and the Youth Awards were an opportunity to reward them for a job well done.

“If you know someone aged between 12 - 25 who contributes to the community or excels in their field, I encourage you to take the time to nominate them for an award,” Cr Brown said.

“Young people can contribute to the community in many different ways and these awards are a wonderful way to say thank you. We appreciate what you do to benefit the Shire.

“You can download the guidelines and fill in the nomination form here or pick up hard copies from the Civic Centre in Camperdown.”

Corangamite Shire Youth Council Mayor, Lauren McIlveen encouraged people to nominate young people in their area.

“It might be a young person you know through your local club, somebody in your community or a group of young people making a difference in community services, music, or on the farm.

“These awards inspire young people and let them know that their efforts can have a significant and valuable effect,” she added.

Categories include:

  • Sport (individual and group)
  • Workplace Endeavour
  • Community Service (individual and group)
  • Music
  • Environmental
  • Agriculture

  • Visual and multimedia

The awards will be presented at the Camperdown Theatre Royal on Friday 23 November.
