Survey to help shape Mount Noorat management plan

Published on 03 December 2018

Corangamite Shire Council and the Mount Noorat Management Committee are seeking public input to ensure the magnificent landmark is managed in the best interests of the Noorat and wider communities.

Mayor Neil Trotter encouraged people to take 10 minutes and fill in an online survey to share their ideas for the Mount.

“Council and the Mount Noorat Management Committee are preparing a draft plan for the area and I encourage residents to contribute to the process,” Cr Trotter said.

“The survey asks about the features of Mt Noorat that are most important to you.

“Feedback will help focus future efforts to areas of most value to people – whether it be walking tracks, interpretive signage, picnic facilities etc.

Cr Trotter said community opinions received through the survey would be taken into account as the draft plan is developed.

There will be further community consultation before the final version is completed.

“This is an opportunity for residents to have input and help shape the vision for this unique geological feature and its flora and fauna.

“The plan will lay down objectives and actions to ensure the mount remains a valued community asset that can be accessed and enjoyed by the public.”

The survey can be found at

Hard copies are available from the Civic Centre, 181 Manifold Street Camperdown.

Submissions will be accepted until Friday 4 January 2019. The date has been extended into the New Year to encourage as many responses as possible.
