School holiday movies are coming back to the Theatre Royal in Camperdown.

Corangamite Shire Council Manager Growth and Engagement Rory Neeson, said the movies were a way Council could give young people something a bit different to do on their holidays.

“The cinema experience is a fun way to get out and socialise with friends, making it an event rather than just sitting at home with the DVD,” he said.

“Come along and make a day of it.

“On Thursday 5 July, you can see Paddington 2, which combines live action with animation to really bring the much-loved children’s character to life.

“The next week, on Thursday 12 July we’ve got the new screen version of Beatrix Potter’s classic Peter Rabbit, so a whole new generation can enjoy that story.”

Paddington 2 has won dozens of awards including British Academy of Film and TV Awards for Best British Film, Best Supporting Actor, for Hugh Grant, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Peter Rabbit features the voices of James Corden as Peter, Australia’s Margot Robbie and Elizabeth Debicki as Flopsy and Mopsy, and The Last Jedi star Daisy Ridley as Cotton Tail.

Doors for each session open at 1 pm for a 1.30 pm start. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
