Act fast to make sure Corangamite Shire’s community champions get their just rewards at the 2018 Australia Day Celebrations in Timboon.
Members of the public have until Monday to nominate deserving Corangamite Shire residents for the 2018 Australia Day Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year awards.
Mayor Jo Beard urged people to name an individual or event that enriched the life of the community.
“This is a great way to showcase some of the unsung heroes in our community and show them we appreciate all the effort they put in,” Cr Beard said.
“Have a think about the inspiring people out there, fill in a nomination from, and send it in.
“Corangamite Shire is a better place for the contributions of all the hard workers, volunteers and role models, the leaders and the quiet achievers and the event organisers who bring our towns and communities together.
“The Australia Day awards are a great way to give them the credit they deserve and tell them ‘We appreciate what you do’.”
Any Shire resident who has made an exceptional contribution over the past year, or over a number of years, is eligible for the Citizen of the Year award.
The Young Citizen of the Year Award is open to nominees who will be aged between 12 and 25 on 26 January 2018.
Nomination forms can be completed via the above link, or in person at the Corangamite Shire Civic Centre, 181 Manifold Street, Camperdown.
