Events, festivals funding opportunity extended

Organisers of events and festivals to be held in Corangamite Shire have an additional week to apply for round two of the Events and Festivals Grant Program.

Applications will close at 5 pm on Monday 8 October 2018.

Events taking place from March 2019 to August 2019 are eligible to apply.

Corangamite Shire Deputy Mayor Neil Trotter said events and festivals add to the vitality of the Shire and provide a sense of community as well as economic benefits.

“Council has developed this program to help start-up events get off the ground and to build up existing events," Cr Trotter said.

“Supporting organisers to put on quality events will promote the area as a destination for visitors creating economic opportunities for businesses in the Shire.

“Council is committed to supporting local businesses and this is just one way we're helping strengthen the overall prosperity of our towns and communities.”

Grants and in kind support are available in two categories: Minor Community Event and Small to Hallmark Event.

Eligibility and assessment criteria for each categories can be found in the Events and Festivals Grant Program Guidelines.

Organisers are encouraged to read the guidelines and to contact Council staff to discuss their applications before lodging their submission.

To help applicants maximise applicant’s chances of success, Council has prepared information guides on event planning and event risk planning, a sample event management plan, and an application toolkit.

The documents are available here or from the Civic Centre at 181 Manifold Street, Camperdown.

Applications can be made online or a hard copy application form can be provided on request.
