$26,300 allocated for events and festivals

Ten events will use $26,300 from Corangamite Shire to bring vitality to the Shire’s towns, and offer cultural, social and economic benefit the community.
At its Ordinary Meeting last week, Council allocated $12,000 in funding and $14,300 of in-kind support in round two of the Events and Festivals Grant Program.
Mayor Neil Trotter said Council had received five applicants in each of the two categories: Minor Community Events and Small to Medium Events.
“This is the first year we have run this program and round two was open to events occurring from March 2019 to August 2019,” Cr Trotter said.
“Each application was considered very carefully under the program guidelines to ensure ratepayers’ money was used wisely for the benefit of the community.
“Events provide a sense of community and offer cultural, social and economic benefit to ratepayers.”
The program is aimed at helping develop new events, attract new events to the region, increase regional and national visits, and stimulate the Shire economy.
