Ed Gym key to confidence for Skipton pre-schoolers

ED GYM coach Maz O’Neil will bring her extensive mentoring experience to Skipton on Thursday 15 March.
Maz, who will clock up seven years with the Corangamite Shire Council program for pre-school aged children next month, said it was a “pretty good” job.
“The kids learn songs and actions that develop their motor skills and balance.
“You do see them socially come out of themselves and become more confident.
“Definitely the mums that come along appreciate it. The parents up there think it’s a great thing.”
Maz couldn’t guess at the number of children she had helped nurture over the years. “Over seven years I’ve seen a few,” she said.
“It’s pretty exciting to see them grow from babies and how their skills and confidence develop.
“They come until they head off to school or kinder. They really do start as babies, some of them.”
Maz and colleague Amy Pemberton run Ed Gym at the Theatre Royal in Camperdown from 9.15 am on Wednesdays and Terang Stadium from 9.30 am on Thursdays.
Those venues are stocked with high-quality equipment, some of which will make its way to Skipton.
“We pack a trailer with equipment in Camperdown and take it up,” Maz said.
The hour-long session at Skipton Mechanics Hall will start at 11 am.
Fees per class are $5.50 for one child, $10 for two and $13.50 for three from the same family.
Ed Gym is an active and structured gymnastics based program for pre-school aged children which promotes a range of learning opportunities in a fun and safe environment with parents close by for security.
Each session is designed to develop coordination, independence, problem-solving and creativity in a fun and safe environment
