Don’t “leaf” health to suffer in autumn
Published on 05 April 2018
Help Corangamite residents “fall” into healthy habits this autumn by registering your club or activity for the Eat Well! Move Well! Be Well! program.
Corangamite Shire Recreation Development Officer Lucy Vesey said the seasonal program aimed to connect residents with enjoyable opportunities to improve their health all year round.
“As the weather cools down, it’s tempting to stay in at home so it becomes more important to have fun and social reasons to keep active,” Ms Vesey said.
“There’s a saying that we become the average of the five people we spend the most time with so to keep our bodies in good running order it’s important to spend time with health-focussed companions.
“Having regular contact with people who are passionate about their chosen activity is a great way to stay motivated to look after ourselves.”
Ms Vesey said Australian Bureau of Statistics figures showed more than one third of adults and one on four children were overweight or obese, but finding an inspiring activity could make getting in shape easier.
“Eat Well! Move Well! Be Well! is a great opportunity for clubs to attract new members and help improve their quality of life,” she said.
“Register your activity for the autumn program and let other people know what you do and how great it is.”
Lodge your expression of interest electronically at www.corangamite.vic.gov.au. Or request a hard copy from Council on 5593 7100 or the Civic Centre at 181 Manifold Street Camperdown.
Registrations close on Monday 16 April.
