The Princes Highway and Little Manifold Street in Camperdown will make way for a different variety of cars and bikes this weekend.

Both roads will be closed in both directions between Brooke and Cressy streets on Saturday 12 January, from 7 am until 6 pm, for the second annual Camperdown Car and Bike Show. Little Manifold Street will remain closed until 10.30 pm for the night cruise. A detour and reduced speed limits will be in place throughout the town and for Old Geelong Road.

There will be safety fencing around the event and organisers will seek a $5 donation from adults upon entry, with children admitted free. Proceeds will go to local charities.

Corangamite Shire Mayor Neil Trotter encouraged motorists to observe signage so the family-friendly event was safe for everyone.

He said the event would be an enjoyable weekend spectacle for locals and visitors alike, and would bring economic benefits for the Shire.

“It’s a great opportunity to showcase Camperdown and the Shire to motor enthusiasts who are expected to come from all over the state,” he said.

“Many of those visitors will contribute to local businesses—paying for food, fuel and accommodation while they’re here—and we hope they will leave as ambassadors for Corangamite and tell their friends what a great district this is to visit.”

About 500 cars and 250 motorbikes are expected to be in the Show ’n’ Shine display with prizes awarded across more than 35 categories from 2:30 pm.

The show will begin at 4 pm on Friday with a meet and greet for entrants, followed by live music at the Hampden Hotel until 10:30 pm.

On Saturday, the Show ’n’ Shine will be held from 9 am – 4 pm with trade stalls, live music and a barbecue by Camperdown Lions’ Club. Then from 7 pm – 10 pm entrants will take their vehicles on a Night Cruise around Little Manifold Street.

Things will wrap up at 11am on Sunday, when the vehicles leave on a cruise from the Clocktower to the Boggy Creek Hotel.
