Are you new to Corangamite?

New Corangamite residents are invited to share a bite to eat and meet their new neighbours and Councillors at events in the north and south of the Shire during February.
Mayor Neil Trotter said the events were organised to welcome new residents to the area and give them a chance to meet others who had also recently moved.
“We are inviting people who have moved to Corangamite Shire over the past couple of years to join us for a light supper, make some friends, meet some Councillors and get information about the community in a relaxed setting,” Cr Trotter said.
“Bring the kids and meet other new people as well as some of the locals.”
Meet and greets will be held in Lismore on Monday 11 February and Cobden on Monday 25 February.
“We’re very proud of the welcoming and inclusive spirit in our communities here in Corangamite Shire,” Cr Trotter said.
“Finding a new social circle when you move to a new area can be a bit intimidating so Council is putting on these events to help break the ice.”
Cr Trotter said people who came along could feel comfortable knowing there were others there in the same position.
“The aim is for them to walk away with new friends and a new social network that will support them as they settle into their new homes.”
Cr Trotter said attracting more people to move to the Shire would help build economic success and future liveability.
“Embracing new residents as part of our community is a powerful way to enhance our reputation as a vibrant and rewarding place to live.”
