Young achiever nominations open Monday 13 August

If you know a young person making a contribution to the Corangamite Shire community, take the time to nominate them for the 2018 Youth Achievement Awards.

Councillor representative to the Youth Council Helen Durant said nominations were now open.

“These awards are an opportunity to commend the achievements of young people aged 12 - 25 in our region,” Cr Durant said.

“Young people have the passion and fresh ideas to help us work towards an exciting future.

“Whether they’re individuals or working as part of a group, these awards are an opportunity to give them the recognition they deserve.

“Encouraging our future leaders early on can help set them on the path to greater things which can benefit them and the whole community.”

  • Workplace Endeavour
  • Community Service (individual and group)
  • Music
  • Environmental
  • Agriculture
  • Performing Arts
  • Visual and multimedia

Corangamite Shire Youth Council Mayor Lauren McIlveen encouraged residents to nominate young people in their area.

“If you know a young person who contributes to the community or is making their mark in their chosen field, take the time to nominate them for an award,” she said.

“You can download the guidelines and fill in the nomination form at www.corangamite.vic.gov.au or pick up hard copies from the Civic Centre in Camperdown.”

The awards will be presented at the Camperdown Theatre Royal on Friday 23 November.

Nominations for the 2018 awards will open on Monday 13 August and close on Friday 14 September.
