Wayne lives in Camperdown with his wife Judi, and is an active member of the community as Chair of the Uniting Church Council, Secretary of the Lions Club of Camperdown and Lions District Membership Chair.  He is also involved with the Victorian Council of Churches as a carer/chaplain at incidents such as the St Patrick’s Day Fires.

Wayne was re-elected to Council in December 2018 following a vacancy, having served as Central Ward Councillor with the Shire from 2012 to 2016.  He is a member of the Elm Tree Reference Group, Youth Council and Chief Executive Officer Performance Review Committee.

What inspired you to run for Council again?

In one form or another I have always wanted to be of service to my community, and when I was contacted and informed that fate had smiled on me for a second time, I jumped at the opportunity to return to Council.   Knowing the quality of people I would be working with was very important and made my decision to return an extremely easy one.

What do you believe some of the challenges will be for this Council?

I think our budget will always be a challenge but it is in the best hands imaginable.   I won’t state some of the more obvious challenges, but I do think, although it is early days, that the new Local Government Act on the horizon is a stealthy interference in the role of councils and the people who elect them.

If there is one thing (or project) you want to see happen in your time as Council - what would it be?

I would love to see our recyclable materials run through a process that morphs them into viable, marketable products, with their sale benefitting the entire shire.
