Environment and Sustainability Strategy

ES-Stategy.png

A flourishing, healthy environment and more sustainable practices are crucial to the wellbeing of our Shire and underpin our tourism and agriculture sectors. We need to work with our community to improve the environment.

The draft Environment and Sustainability Strategy 2024-2034 provides a roadmap for the next ten years for what we can achieve in environmental management and sustainable practices. It includes what Council will do within its control and influence and where Council may influence change by supporting the community, business, and other stakeholders’ efforts. Feedback and input from Councillors, staff, the community, and stakeholders through engagement activities conducted during the first co-design phase has played a major role in shaping the strategy’s goals, objectives, and priorities.

The strategy vision reflects the importance of environmental management and sustainable practices to our community. The vision will be realised by achieving four key goals consistent with the Community Vision 2040 and Council Plan 2021-2025. Each goal includes corresponding objectives which provide a long-term roadmap with a ten-year outlook. Each objective includes several priorities, which outline what should be done and where effort will be directed in the short-medium term

We invite you to provide feedback on the draft Environment and Sustainability Strategy 2024-2034.
