Join the Community Reference Group for Council's Climate Change Action Plan

Corangamite Shire Council is committed to addressing the current and future impacts of climate change on the health, economy and wellbeing of the people of Corangamite Shire and to its environment.

In the Environment and Sustainability Strategy 2024-2034, Council acknowledged the importance of addressing climate change. As part of this acknowledgement, Council recognised the need to develop a Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) to assist both Council and community to mitigate the impacts of climate change and adapt to impacts that are already occurring. ‘Climate Change’ was also identified by the community as a key opportunity in Theme One of the Community Vision 2040.

How can you get involved?

Council recognises the significant expertise and good will within our communities, and that we need to develop our climate response together. Council is inviting members of the community to join a working group to help develop the Action Plan. To be eligible, the nominee must be able to provide proof that they are a resident, work, study, volunteer, or own a business in the Shire and will be required to complete a short questionnaire.

Recruitment of Community Reference Group

Council is forming a Community Reference Group to guide development of the Action Plan and support community engagement. Council is looking for Shire community members who understand the challenges posed by climate change and would like to contribute to the Shire’s climate response. Council is interested to hear from a broad range of people so encourage anyone to apply.
