“Females in football!” That’s what AFLW Melbourne Demon’s player Shelley Scott likes to see.
Scott, a dairy farmer from the South West, was part of the inaugural AFLW season playing with the Melbourne Demons and recently took some time out of her busy workload to help film some females in football promotional material for Corangamite Shire.
With Auskick programs commencing across the Corangamite region now is a great opportunity for young girls to kick start their careers in football.
Recreation Development Officer, Lucy Vesey said Council was thrilled to have Shelley come down to help promote females in football.
“With the AFL Women’s competition launching this year and a heavy interest growing in the region, there has never been a better time for young girls to get involved in football. It’s open for prep to grade 4/5 and all skill levels,” Ms Vesey said.
“Clubs across Corangamite are welcoming young girls to Auskick with programs available in Camperdown, Noorat, Terang, Derrinallum, Cobden, Simpson and Timboon, to register head to www.aflauskick.com.au,” she said.
Keep an eye on Corangamite Shire Council’s Facebook page for stories featuring Shelley and other local female footballers from the Corangamite region.
