| Building Permits | | Are you planning to build, put another shed on your farm, or add an extension to your house? You may need a building permit. A building permit is an approval to construct and is a technical document usually containing detailed plans, specifications, computations and engineering information. This is the final approval and the last step prior to actually starting work on-site.
Corangamite Shire's Building Department issues permits, conducts inspections and provides technical advice and permit information in relation to all building projects in the region. Always consult Council staff or a Building Surveyor if you are proposing to carry out building works, as even minor alterations may require a permit. | |
| If I have a Planning Permit, do I need a Building Permit? | | Planning and building permits are different in what they approve and in their purpose. These permits are two separate and distinct approvals and where planning permits are sometimes required, building permits are generally always required to construct, alter, extend or demolish a building. | |
