Health, safety and local laws are an important responsibility of Council. Our public health department works at maintaining and promoting a healthy environment and manages issues such as air quality, asbestos, food sampling & monitoring, immunisations, infectious diseases, pest control, septic tanks & water quality, use of hazardous chemicals and registration of food premises, accommodation, hairdressers, beauty parlours, tatooists and caravan parks.
Our local laws are designed to serve the unique interests of Corangamite residents and are there to provide a safe and healthy environment so that our community can enjoy the quality of life that goes with living in Corangamite.
And whilst public safety is not the responsibility of Council alone, Corangamite Shire has a lead role in coordinating response to emergency events such as bushfires, drought and flooding.
